He is a waist size 36 and usually and we got this in the medium. The size is perfect. It is very adjustable so even if he were to gain or lose weight, it would still fit. He is pretty tall at 6'4 , but this belt is wide enough to cover his lower back with no problem. The belt itself closes with strong velcro. To give you control over the amount of support you want, there are two straps that stretch around your waist that can be made as tight as you want if you need more support. What is great about the belt is that the back is wider than the front so it really gives you that support your back needs when bending and reaching. When he gets really stiff or his back is just that knotted up and swollen, he can still do actual work without being in excruciating pain as long as he is wearing this back support. On days that he's feeling good, he still wears this for additional support and to keep his core aligned to help prevent further injury and damage. There are 4 acrylic bones in the back of the belt and it is constructed of canvas and has good stretch to it. The belt is hand washable if it starts to get smelly from sweat or dirt and folds up easily to travel with and store.
This has helped him with the support he needs for his back during his long hard days at work where he is climbing, bending, lifting and crouching all day long. It is comfortable and adjustable and works wonderfully!

This thing is so comfortable, and easy to use. It fits both my dad who is pretty skinny (mens size medium shirts) and me too (women's xl shirts). It's so simple to put it on, you just position it where you want it and attach to the Velcro around you.
I love that it's adjustable to whatever size you need, bigger or smaller. And it's not so stiff that it hurts to wear. I can wear it at my desk while I'm working and it's comfy for hours, or he can wear it while he's working on a house for hours and either way it's comfy.
It helps keep your posture right so that you don't throw out a muscle or something and really do some damage. It's a great way to spend a little on some protection ahead of time instead of spending a lot on doctors visits when you throw out your back later on. *I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
I ordered this mainly to use as a back brace for my husband who recently had spinal lumbar fusion back surgery he has the brace that was given to him at the hospital but repeated wear outdoors has left that one a bit smelly. It also has two pieces of metal in it and can be a bit uncomfortable at times so this one works out a little better because it doesn't have the metal bars and gives me the chance to wash the other one while he still has one he can wear.
It fits around his lower back/torso area well. The belt has two layers of strong velcro closures. This gives precise control over the amount of support The belt is that the back is wider than the front and that is always nice when bending. There are 4 acrylic bone type structures in the back of the belt for structure. The belt is hand washable if it gets dirty or smelly like our other one did.
Having an extra brace like this one helps with his healing process and gives us a chance to make sure he always has a clean belt that can be worn under his shirt out in public. That another thing, when he wears it under his clothes you can't even tell he has it on.

brace is perfect for that. I can wear it all day under my clothes and people don't even know
I have it on. The double velcro allows me to adjust to the tightness I need and if through out
the day it seems to be too much I can just go to the restroom and loosen it. The material is
smooth against my skin, it doesn't chafe after wearing all day. There is 2 elastic bands that
go all the way around, these do stretch but as you fasten the velcro they pull tighter. These
also help you to move freely with no added tightness. Just tighten the inner elastic bands and
then tighten the outer bands to the firmness desired.This also helps to compress my lower
abdominal area and makes me appear thinner. I highly recommend this brace.
